Missing indicators on TMT buses add to commuters’ woes

Missing indicators on TMT buses add to commuters’ woes

Thane: Thousands of commuters using Thane Municipal Transport (TMT) buses face a lot of inconvenience daily as destination information on many buses is missing. This leaves them in a fix and many either miss their regular buses or end up boarding the wrong ones.

Of the 323 buses under the TMT fleet, around 200 are fitted with digital destination indicators, while the rest operate with painted metal boards. However, with the rains, many digital boards have developed problems. "This is unacceptable", said Satyajit Shah of NGO TMT Bachao Kruti Samiti."If the TMT spends so much money on maintaining buses, how come these indicators are missing or malfunctioning? " said another activist. TMT officials said they make sure that the staff keep commuters informed about the destinations of the buses, if the boards are not functioning or missing.
