यावर प्राणी मित्र, व प्राणी मैत्रिणीचे ठराविक ऊत्तर येणार , " कुत्रा स्वतः कधीच कोणाला चावत नाही " , त्याला त्या 67 वर्षांच्या वयस्कर गृहस्थांनी पहाटे 4.45 वाजता दगड मारला असेल म्हणून कुत्रा त्यांना चावला असेल . ( " भारत " या देशात दररोज अंदाजे 1,41,960 व्यक्तींना श्वान दंश होतो , याचाच अर्थ दररोज एवढ्या नवीन व्यक्ती भटक्या कुत्र्यांना दगड मारतात . प्राणी मित्र व प्राणी मैत्रिणींचे हे असले ऐकावे ते नवलंच . )
दुखः एवढेच वाटते कि नागपूर मधील तमाम " मानव प्राणी " या " भटक्या कुत्र्यांच्या " अनिर्बध वाढणाऱ्या संख्येच्या प्रश्नावर , व त्यामुळे वाढत जाणाऱ्या श्वान दंशाच्या घटनांवर मूग गिळून गप्प बसलेले आहेत. तरी बरं येथे मुगाचे पीक येत नाही .
असो , नागपूरकर तुम्ही एवढ्यांदा जंगलात वाघ पाहण्यासाठे जाता , तेथे तुम्ही जंगली कुत्रे कळपाने फिरताना पाहिले असतीलच . तुम्हाला हे देखील माहीत असेलच कि ज्या भागात जंगली कुत्रे असतात त्याच्या जवळ पास देखील वाघ फिरकत नाही कारण हे जंगली कुत्रे अतिशय हिंस्त्र असतात व वाघाला देखील मारून टाकतात. भटके कुत्रे देखील गावात , शहरात कळपाने फिरतात . लहान मुलांवर हल्ला करतात. ( श्वान दंशाच्या घटनांपैकी अंदाजे 80 % घटनांमध्ये 3 ते 8 या वयोगटातील बालके असतात ) . आणि हे देखील लक्ष्यात ठेवा की भटका कुत्रा ही काही नष्ट होणारी जमात नाही .
मी तर माझ्या परीने गेली 3 ते 4 वर्षे गल्ली ते दिल्ली या प्रश्नावर लढत आहे.

Stray dog attack leaves elderly man badly injured

Nagpur: On Sunday morning, a few residents of RK Nagar in Zingabai Takli rushed out of their homes on hearing an elderly man crying for help at 4:45am. They saw a 67-year-old man from their locality with deep wounds on his right hand, bleeding profusely after he was bitten by a stray dog. The victim Muzaffaruddin Ahmed was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Ramdaspeth, where he is undergoing treatment for injuries on his right hand and fracture in one of his left hand fingers.
This incident is actually exposing casual approach of the NMC, which is yet to check population of stray dogs by launching animal birth control programme.
The victim's IT professional son Sameer said the dog menace is making everyone's life miserable in RK Nagar. After the incident, RK Nagar residents decided to take remedial measures for the safety of the colony's children and elders.
The residents are also planning to visit the NMC veterinary department and corporators Arun Dawre and Sangeeta Girhe to express growing dissent over increased stray dog menace.
Recalling the incident, Sameer told TOI that the dog attacked his father, a retired officer from NEERI, when he was on his way for morning prayers in a nearby mosque. Sameer said his father is now traumatized.
Moreover, the opening of dumping yard on the banks of Pili river has increased their problems, said a group of miffed residents. "The number of stray dogs in this part of the city has increased menacingly and dog bite cases being reported on a very frequent basis. People insist that approaching the NMC do not yield results and they are forced to find their own ways to deal with the problem," said a resident Raju Thakur.
Residents also claimed that a young boy was bitten by a stray dog recently. Several others too were attacked by strays in the past in this locality. A pack of stray dogs is a source of constant fear to pedestrians here, they added.
