Thane: The six major accident spot on 1.5km Kapurbwadi flyover has been in limelight ever since it was opened for public use.
The flyover has witnessed many accidents in past few months and after repeated complaints and efforts of activist Satyajit Shah, BJP MLA Sanjay Kelkar has instructed officials to speed up the work.
In a recent meeting, which was held on November 17, the MLA told the officials to start work within four days and fix all the major problems on the flyover which is a major threat for the commuters.
Sanjay Kelkar informed, “I have been following the issue for a long time now. I am coordinating with MSRDC officials closely and would get the work done soon. In fact, the one problem near Lodha Paradise has already been resolved, the immediate exit has been blocked and the new one has been opened 100-meters ahead.”
The other problem on the stretch is that there are no rumblers and solar-operated blinkers on Balkum arm, and the sharp U-turn at the Ghodbunder-Mumbai arm of the flyover is dangerous as there is no speed breaker. Speed rumblers and direction boards are the need of hour and this needs to be resolved.
Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) deputy engineer BR Sarvade has ensured that accident spots would be fixed soon. The MLA has ensured that he would not leave the work incomplete and few more review meetings regarding this has been scheduled on November 22.
Activist Satyajit Shah said, “Fixing problematic zones was important and high-level of intervention is required. Now I am hopeful that the problem would be resolved.”
As per the MLA, the work would be completed in two weeks.
