Stray dogs: Residents begin awareness drive
MULUND: Following the report of stray dog menace published in HT Live last week, residents of Hyde Park have decided to take some steps to stop the menace. A few residents of the complex have begun attempt to convince people of not to feed the stray dogs in the open or on the society premises. They have put up banners and will distribute pamphlets and even go from door-to- door, requesting people not to do this.
Following the HT Live report on stray dog menace, residents of Hyde Park have come up with some steps to stop the menace.
“We are not against stray dogs nor do we want them dead. We simply want people to stop feeding them and also the authorities to effectively carry out the sterilisation process so that their number does not increase. We have appealed to the corporation for their support, however there has been no response from their side. We have decided not to wait for the corporation to take action,” said Rahul Mahale, a resident.
Satyajit Shah, who took up the cause initially by circulating e-mails to the residents, said, “We have decided to stick posters showing the ill effects of dog bites. We will also put up posters creating awareness on rabies and other infection through animals.”
