Fight by TMT BACHAO KTUTI SAMITI is PAYING OFF

Please go through the following news article published in DNA dt. 14th July, 2012.

I feel this improvement has taken place because of the FIGHT started by TMT BACHO KRUTI SAMITI .

Also I feel that this has become possible because of efforts from Mr. Devidas Tekale - TMT as well as Mr. Ashok Burpule and co-operation from TMT Employees.

I am of the strong opinion that

Stand up for what is right , Even if you’re standing alone !

The Thane Municipal Transport has started 225 buses in Thane, which have increased its daily revenue by around Rs1.5 lakh. Currently, the TMT has a fleet of 321 buses, which includes the 200 buses received under the JNNURM scheme. Of the total bus fleet, 225 buses, including 15 buses of the contractor, are plying. Previously, only 160 buses were in use. “The daily revenue is increased by around Rs1.50 lakh since the number of buses on road has gone up,” said Devidas Tekale, TMT general manager.

The total daily revenue during the weekdays is around Rs20 lakh, while that on the weekend is around Rs15 lakh.

The TMT is also repairing the buses that are not plying. “As soon as the buses are repaired they will be brought back on the road,” added Tekale. However, commuters have not felt any change. “Though more buses are brought on the road, I can’t see any difference. The frequency and the services remain unchanged,” said Revati Shetty, a resident of Ghodbunder road.

“It is good that the TMT is taking an initiative to increase the bus services. If this remains their approach, then surely there could be improvement,” said Ali Khan, a resident of Lokmanya Nagar. Of the total 321 buses, around 121 were lying idle at the depot for repairs. It was due to the shortage of funds that the repairs could not be done. But after the issue was taken up by the citizens, the mayor has granted funds for the repair of these buses and several are now plying.
